Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre (BBYMT) is an Ottawa-based performance program dedicated to empowering young artists through high-quality musical theatre experiences.
Founded by a passionate team of educators, creatives, and community leaders, BBYMT offers a bold, joyful space where kids build confidence, develop their voice, and learn the value of discipline, teamwork, and artistic expression. From dynamic rehearsals to fully costumed productions, we aim to spark a lifelong love of the performing arts—one standing ovation at a time.

Tobi Kalejaiye
Co-Director, Choreographer
Tobi's began her dance journey at a young age, performing in productions such as Annie, Sound of Music, and Beauty and the Beast, and training in ballet, jazz, and musical theatre dance. Her passion for performance continued through university, where she cheered with Carleton University’s Ravens Rhythm team, combining high-energy precision with showmanship.
As a choreographer, she has already brought large-scale productions to life, including Disney musicals with casts ranging from 50-80 children. These experiences have deepened her love for guiding young performers and creating routines that highlight both technique and storytelling.
With two years of teaching and choreography experience, Tobi is dedicated to fostering an inclusive, encouraging rehearsal space where every student feels valued. Her philosophy centers on celebrating diversity, building confidence, and preparing students for opportunities beyond BBYMT — whether in theatre, dance, or other areas of life. Above all, she believes dance is a tool for expression, growth, and joy.

Fehintola Otujo
Co-Director, Music Director
With over 17 years of teaching experience across the United States and Canada, Fehintola Otujo- terHaar is a passionate, OCT-certified educator committed to nurturing the whole child through the power of the arts.
She holds an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education, and a Master’s Degree in Education with a Math Endorsement. Her additional qualifications include French as a Second Language from Trent University and Dramatic Arts from York University.
Currently serving as a proud educator with the Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB), Tola has been recognized for her creativity and impact with the Best Elementary Creative Arts Award and the Black Brilliance Award, 2025. Over the past 15 years in Canada and USA, she has brought countless stories to life through drama instruction and direction, most recently launching two seasons of successful Disney musical productions.
Her approach to teaching emphasizes building confidence, celebrating diversity, and fostering a strong sense of belonging. She is a firm believer that the creative arts are essential to a child’s development, cultivating communication, empathy, collaboration, and resilience. Above all, Tola is passionate about creating joyful, inclusive spaces where every learner can shine.

Debra Jackson-Lee
Director of Operations
Debra is a dedicated OCT-certified teacher with more than a decade of classroom experience. Over the past several years, they have also discovered a deep passion for youth theatre, contributing to local school productions and supporting students both on and off stage.
With a strong background in education, Debra brings valuable expertise in classroom management, inclusivity, and youth development. Their role in BBYMT focuses on fostering confidence, collaboration, and creativity, ensuring every performer feels part of the team.
Passionate about the transformative power of the arts, Debra believes theatre is more than performance — it’s about building belonging, empathy, and lifelong skills. They are excited to continue helping BBYMT students grow, shine, and celebrate their unique voices.

BBYMT (Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre) is a youth-focused musical theatre training program based in Ottawa. We offer high-quality, performance-based experiences through term sessions, workshops, and fully costumed productions designed to build skills, confidence, and stage presence.

We offer our programs in seasonal terms throughout the year:
A 10-12 week performance training program that ends in a costumed showcase or musical revue.
Each term has its own theme, focus, and showcase. Rehearsals typically happen once or twice per week, depending on the program.

Our performances range from:
Musical Revues (themed collections of songs from Broadway shows or movies)
Full-Scale Productions (scripted musicals with costumes, staging, and tech)
Themed Camps & Showcases (shorter programs with a performance element)
Each session will clearly outline what format to expect.

BBYMT offers programs for students in Grades JK through 12, with performance training tailored to their age and experience level.
Lil Stars (Grades JK–3):
A playful introduction to musical theatre for younger performers. This group builds foundational skills in singing, movement, and storytelling while having tons of fun on stage.YSC – Youth Stage Company (Grades 4–12):
Our main training and performance program. Although YSC includes a wide age range, students are always grouped with peers in their age or grade range.
This ensures appropriate material, positive social dynamics, and strong artistic growth for every performer.
Each group rehearses their own featured numbers and may come together for large ensemble moments or finale numbers.
No matter the group, all performers are supported, challenged, and celebrated for who they are!

Yes! For most programs, costumes are provided or coordinated by our team — especially for showcases and full productions. Families may be asked to contribute simple base items (e.g., black pants or white shirts), depending on the role or theme.

Tuition Policy
At Broadway Bound Youth Musical Theatre, we are committed to providing high-quality classes and programs, and our operational planning depends on the enrollment numbers for each program. Tuition for BBYMT programs is non-refundable and non-transferable. If a participant notifies BBYMT in writing 30 days prior to the start of a program, OR within 24 hours of registering for a program, it is possible to transfer the tuition to another available program within 12 months. A cancellation fee of $50 will be applied for such changes. Credits can be applied to BBYMT Productions and Classes. Credits cannot be applied to Private Lessons or tickets. Once a tuition credit has been used, it cannot be further credited. Finally, please note that ticketing & credit card transaction fees are non-refundable in all circumstances.
